And, for the diesels, that's where BMW has relentlessly ramped up the price increases in line with the "prestige/performance" of each model whereas, as you point out, for petrols and SE there is no such observable trend.
And, to add insult to injury, if I understand correctly, the MSport panels are the same either side of LCI!

What's interesting is that by far in the UK the e60 market is dominated by the MSport variant.
It's rare enough here as the SE suspension and smaller wheels are more suitable for our roads.
