I have been just a bit obsessed with the fog lights on the LCI as I have a LCI on order to arrive April 2 in NY, and intend to have an M-Tech kit installed at the port on arrival. As we now see that LCIs (non-M Sport) have new fog lights, my concern is that the present M-Tech kit won't fit my LCI. Does ANYONE have any info at all? Does anyone think it could be retrofitted by installing the pre-LCI fog lights first? My dealer has no answers for me other than "I checked with the port and they weren't sure", followed with the wonderful assurance of "I'll check with the port again on Monday and see if they know anything new..." I'd HATE to hear that we can't put on an M-Tech kit in US until a new one is designed. Anyone have any insight at all???

As the M-Tech kit comes with its own fog light, I really doubt it won't fit the LCI model. The main difference between the pre-facelift and the LCI model's M-Tech kit in the US is the inclusion of the amber reflector on the sides.

Thanks for the reply--

So are you saying that there is a new M-Tech kit? Do you know this as fact or are you assuming based on the look of the 550i with ZSP?

There is no new, different M-tech kit. But when you but the M-tech kit, it will have it's on foglights (old round style) to go into the M-tech bumper.

You change the whole bumper including the fogs, not only the bumper around the fogs

Is that the same for the US too? I guess then the price must change as the old kit kept the original fog lights??

Spoke with my dealer who looked into my question about the M Aero kit.

He advises that the M Aero Kit, as it exists now in the US, will fit the LCI. The part numbers remain the same (51 71 0 396 683 for cars without PDC and 51 71 0 396 684 for those with PDC). He advises that the price has not changed and that, from what he is told, there in no need to change fog lights. So, I guess whatever changes were made to the foglights, do not affect the M Kit.

Of course, I could get a call in 15 seconds telling me of a new "problem" that popped up, but so far all systems are go.

Others on here have said that the "Aero Kit" comes with its own fogs.

Someone's right.

Some quick questions from this newbie (out of curiosity & desire to understand more clearly):
- M-Tech kit vs. M Aero Kit. Is one a Europe-based mod and the other a USA version? Is there a difference?
- M-Tech kit vs. 2008 500i Sport Package (USA) aero kit. Is there a difference? Anyone to describe it if so?
- M-tech kit install. Dealer-installed or only "DIY"? Sounds like no factory install except if offered as part of a pkg.
- Typical price of M-Tech kit (parts only)?

Thanks all... love reading the threads!

That was my concern too. I noticed that the part numbers didn't change and was specifically told that no new fog lights need be ordered. So I am baffled as well. I am thinking that it is one of 3 things:
1. US LCI is different from Euro LCI and US fogs behind the casing in the LCI bumper are the same as pre-LCI
2. Fog lights on both US and Euro are the same as pre-LCI, but because casing is different, they have been called 'new fog lights'
3. The dealer is an idiot and I need new fog lights at higher cost before M Aerodynamic kit (as it is called in the Original Accessory brochure) can be installed--which will be that "problem" phone call I mentioned in my last post.

I have put this issue to rest in my mind, however, until that call comes.

1. Unlikely.
2. I really don't think so.
3. A possibility BUT appropriate fogs MAY be included in AeroKit price. Here in UK if you order an "Aero Kit" it comes with fogs. Even pre-LCI.
