LCI diesel owners. Can you hear your turbo?
Hi all,
Windows up, stereo off, heating / air on low, do you hear your turbo when driving?
I have a high pitched, (but quiet,) whistle sometimes during gentle acceleration. Seems worse when the engine is cold. Other than this, the LCI diesel sounds really nice (for a diesel).

Well, I can hear my turbo give a nice whistle from time to time. More so with the window open...

Non-LCI diesel here.
When the windows are closed, i can't hear any turbo-whistle whatsoever. But with the window down, it's whistling quite a lot.
It's normal, a turbo can turn to upto 200k revs per minute, so you'll hear that.

No...But I've never really listened for it. Maybe I'll try it
Yep, there's something like a slight whistle when I floor the pedal.... It's a nice sound though and
I don't mind it. The 'clak clak' sound of the diesel engine is what gets on my nerves....

I wonder though, if I were to floor the gas pedal how would it sound to people outside? Still clak-clak? Wonder why one can't get rid of it or reduce that lorry sound a great deal.
cheers
Yes I can hear mine when I give it some throttle and it starts boosting(with the window open). Been the same since I got the car with 2k miles on it and it makes a nice whistling noise getting louder the more boost there is.
