Car and Driver just tested the 750 and compared the results to their previously tested 745. The results for the new 4.8L V8 are astounding:

test 745/750

0-60 6.0/5.4
1/4 mile 14.6@97/13.9@103
0-100 15.3/13.1
0-120 23.4/19.6

Unbelievable improvement, .6 in 0-60 and .7 in the 1/4 mile. If the 550 shows improvement anything like this, it should be a sub 5 second 0-60, low 13 second car!

That's the deal breaker, Wolverine. I have to have a 550 now.

I asked my office administrator if I could trade for a 750, and she said "no."

Yeah man sign me up for a 550i too!

Will the new V8 for the E Class be comparable?

Ehhh, i'm sure it still won't measure up to a BMW.

yea, that is a big improvment.... maybe the motor is underrated.... would be nice if the 550i ran low 13's, but I really doubt it will....

which MB V8?? the 63 motor will be putting out 500+HP.....

That's really astounding performance for a 4500-lb luxury sedan. I may be ready to admit the quantitative superiority of the new engine!

I meant for the E500.

With a 550i i'm gonna be Jason Statham from the Transporter but in a 5er!

IF you take the best times the carmags will get for the 550, I'll bet 4.9-5.0 0-60 times, and 13.3 - 13.4 quarter miles at 106-108 trapspeeds.
