Labor to replace 08 535xi coil spings
Hello
Been driving the "new" 08 535 xi with H&R Sport Springs after getting the body work done occasionally. I originally was scared to drive around our local pot hole streets but I found that unlike my previous 4x4 I drive around most bigger bumps not through them. It has a nice ride when the ground is smooth but tends to be bouncy and the Sach's struts can't keep up with the spring rate so it hits sharp bumps very hard.
One local shop quoted labor of $700 for spring swap and another quoted 9 hours! Is it really that difficult or intricate to remove and replace these springs on a xi chassis?
Thanks

To simply replace the springs? If it's anything like replacing springs in a coilover then no. Note that I've never done it on an E60 but for my IS300 and A4 literally just take the coilover out, compress spring, unscrew top, take out spring, replace with new spring, screw top back on. Simple as that. 9 hours is for maybe if it's your first time AND you get distracted by a squirrel every 5-10 mins.

Buy yourself a spring compressor and if you have a decent set of wrenches DIY, I have done it n both my 5 series it's not that difficult and nine hrs?? Suggest you get another's shop estimate.
