Got a friend wanting to sell his white M5.... to buy an R8 come this spring. Really good price but it's been thrashed.... Seems most M5's are bought for that reason..
What would be the use of owning one if you didn't 'DRIVE' it like it was meant to be 'DRIVEN'?

If you are going to get a used one, make sure it is still under warranty (get it extended if you can) or CPO'd. Repairs on a M5 is not cheap. Especially the SMG tranny. Plus most M5s are driven hard. For some reason, owners can't help using the launch control!

Most of the M5s i have been looking at have 40k-50k miles ($50k) on them and are still under factory warranty. of course I would add the extended. The only thing holding me back is the gas mileage. the m5s only get 5 to 10 mpgs!

The car does get horrendous gas mileage, but it is a high performance vehicle that will take on the likes of Ferraris and Lambos while having 4 doors and a cavernous trunk! As the saying goes, you can't have everything. With the case of the M5 in the U.S., it's the gas mileage. While in Korea, it's the gas mileage (gas is more than double the price in the U.S.) and the US$ 170k price tag for the car!

170k is insane!

I've got a 18-105mm vr lens, 60mm macro lens, 70-300mm vr telephoto, and 10.5 fisheye wide angle lens.
Have you decided on which camera to get?
