My Ride: Current: 08' white 535i premium package
Mods: Dinan aluminum pedals
LED Rear license plate lights
Future Mods: M-tech bodykit
OEM 167 Rims
Past: 06' metallic black 525xi premium and sport package
I was thinking of getting Mtech kit and OEM 167 rims but now i'm considering buying a 911 and keeping my 535i stock.
Any thought guys? I just can't afford both at the moment.
Damn i want to mod my car and get a 911....T.T

Mind you with the M-Tech kit (don't forget the M5 trunk lip spoiler), OEM 167 wheels, exhaust upgrade (Eisenmann/Remus/SuperSprint/Dinan), suspension upgrade, and some engine mods (say a Dinan stage 2)... you'll be pulling a little over 380 bhp and 421 lb-ft of torque. Of course you'll need a front and rear big brake kit to help you stop. Something from Brembo, StopTech or JBT. All this for about US$15K to US$20K depending on who you buy and install from. Reliability won't be effected... Give it some serious consideration.
I think this option would cost much less than a 997 new or even used and you'll have a 5 series capable of at least keeping up with a 997 while seating 4 comfortably. Moreover, with all those mods, you'll get just as many stares!
The 997 is a great car. I've been a fan of them since I was a little kid. With over 50 years of history in the car (and not just the brand), the 911 is the most highly evolved car on the planet. But think of how often you would be driving it versus the amount of money you will be investing in it. I think you'll be driving your 535i more often. Being a fan of both the 911 and the 535i, I really can't give you a clear cut answer based on the dynamics of each car. Both are great cars but very different. However, speaking in terms of economics, unless you have $$$$ to burn stick with moddiing the 535i.

God... This extended wait for the delivery of my 528i M Sport is driving me nuts. Especially now because this is the time of year when manufacturers begin releasing new models or details of new models they will be releasing in the next 3 to 6 months! The car I am now partially hung up on is the new 2009 Audi A6 3.0TFSI quattro. I just learned from Audi Korea that there will be no price increase from the A6 3.2 quattro and the new car. Meaning that it will cost exactly the same as the 528i M Sport without some of the extra cost options that I have ordered. Kitted with similar options (and not the mods) the BMW 528i M Sport and the Audi A6 3.0TFSI quattro S Line will cost nearly the same (about US$84K).
In terms of power, the Audi is superior. The 528i has 230 bhp vs the A6 with 300 bhp. As for torque, no contest. The 528i has 271 Nm (200 lb-ft) of twist while the A6 has 408 Nm (301 lb-ft). 0-100 kph acceleration times are, 528i 7.4 seconds and the A6 is 5.9 seconds (estimated). At this point, I know some of you may be thinking, "Why doesn't he just get a 535i?" Well it's not available here (here being Korea). At this juncture, some of you may be saying, "How about the 550i?" Well... the 550i starts at a little over US$120K... if I were to option it out like the 528i M Sport, that would add another US$10K to the price of the car... and at price of over US$130K, we're nearing M5 territory.
As for handling, there are no road holding figures for the new A6 as yet, so can't compare. However, the A6 will not have the 40/60 torque split that the S and RS cars have. So... a more rear biased power split for more neutral handling.
Am I just nuts or does the new A6 look good to my fellow members on this sub-forum? If I'm being an idiot, someone talk some sense into me or I may cancel my order and get the new A6!

So... fellow members, what is your opinion? BMW 528i M Sport or Audi A6 3.0TFSI Quattro?
Ah! The answer is simple!
Just get on a plane, fly to Bali, go to a local cafe and order some Sumatran coffee, drink it, and look at the coffee grains at the bottom of the cup!
Therein will your answer lie!
