noticed a bit of a knocking noise, only when driving over potholes or speed humps. noise seems to come from area around rear passenger seat near the seat belt housing on the passengers side of the car. does not sound like anything todo with the suspension, it is definitely an interior component/trim noise.

any ideas what this could be?

It could be the mother in law in your trunk...

Just kidding.

Do you have fold down rear seats ?
I am not sure, but wasn't there a thread before with sounds coming from fold down rear seats??

keep the folding down seats out of question, the back of the seats is the part thats folds. The seat base isn't moving at all and that's the part where the noises are coming from.

So what is underneath the rear seats... The fuel tank, right?

Yes, I think its the fuel tank. On the E46s the fuel tank was defnitely under the rear seats. This I know as they had to move the rear seats to replace the faulty fuel sensors which measure the fuel level in the tank.

popped into dealer on way to work (they are only 1 mile from my house ) the senior E60 tech took car out with my, got back to dealer, 15 minutes later problem fixed. was an issue with the door catch on the rear passenger door.

it is nice to report that even without an appointment they looked at the car there and then........customer service does exist

slightly OT but I had a chat with the tech who looks after the "electrics" about TMC on UK cars with BusNav and he said this would be available Q4/04 or Q1/05 and the fix is coming on the DVD not as part of a software update to the car....anyone heard the same?

That's what we earlier discussed in another thread and I think we cam to the conclusion that there will be a new DVD somewhen that fixes it.

BMW's software can handle TMC, as we know from German spec cars.
And we heard about changes made on the DVD's, since the signal is now coded a little different.
So the nav discs for the UK are simply late...
Makes sense that the new disc will solve the problem!

There's only one solution. Somebody has to try a dutch or german CD in his car.

Flowerfred is in Holland quit a few times so maybe I can meet up with him and put my DVD in his car to see if it works??
