My auto xenons seem to have forgotton the difference between night and day....not switching of in daylight...intermittantly....anyone elses?

I've booked my car in for a new light control module next month along with a software update and SUPPOSED voice activation update....also looking at possibility of upgrading my tv module to the digital one.

i have the same problem pretty much everyday around 4-5 p.m. and it was still bright outside. i told my service advisor about this and the mechanic said they wouldn't adjust the sensitivity since this may cause the headlights malfunction which i think they are full of crap !

Yup, its a load of cr*p....there has been an official notice to dealers about a batch of faulty lighting controllers......mine sometimes wont go off even in direct brilliant sunlight (yes we occasionally get that in Scotland!)

last time I had my car in for service, I had them change the sensitivity... Seems they are even more sensitive now... guess they went the wrong way on the settings.... :'(

Does it hurt the Xenon's only to be on a few seconds before they cut off?

Mine were the same. I had them INCREASE the sensitivity, which makes them go on sooner and off sooner. They work better now.

But, in general, if the sun's not overhead, that is, in the morning and late afternoon, they stay on. I've seen other comments about this - just must be related to the placement of the sensor or something.

After a month with my US 545 (active Xenons), I also find the automatic on-off feature to be problematic, often remaining on in bright morning light.

Does anyone have a copy of this notice (bulletin) referred to by Doctor Diesel?

I don't have xenons but still have this problem. The car went back last week for a few issues, now when switched to auto when I switch the ignition off the side lights remain on.I also had the latest version of software installed,3 days later the i-drive crashed did not come back for forty minutes.Today the radio and CD stopped working, the sat nav stopped working and the parking sensors stopped working, they all did not work again for 2 hours.Car goes back tomorrow,am now pretty well pissed off.

This is not the notice mentioned by Doctor Diesel, referring to defective sensors.

In fact, the document in that thread states that there is no problem.

Oops, must have forgotten to log in with that contribution, but of course you're right. I did think it was a relevant memo about the light sensor activating the lights under conditions where most folks think they are not operating correctly.
