I have 1050 miles in about a month of ownership. My round trip commute is about 3 miles, so I have to work to get the miles on. I hope to get the breakin period over with soon, and then will report on "spirited driving." Very difficult to stay under 4500 RPM, unless you drive like a senior citizen which I almost am. Have kept it at or below 100 mph, though. That 100mph was on a steady upwrd incline at about half throttle. This car really pulls.
Trev, I feel for you. I waited 6 months for my e46M3. My e60 was sitting at the dealership just about exactly the way I would have ordered it, so no wait involved.

wow you were lucky there! Yours sounds almost identical to mine! Although I have the M sport package! ha! 
By the way how do you like the rear sunshades? I though they seemed cheesy. That and active steering are the only 2 options i didn't order

Last August i sold my 1999 E39 523i with 320.000 Kms. My current 2003 E60 530D is 83.000 Kms (i bought it in August with 59.000 Kms). But my new 535D will arrive in January
