Hey guys i'm concerned about how many kms will my E60 530d will be able to do in normal conditions.
Mine is around 64.000 kms today. Pick it up on the 1st June 2004.
Want to use it more 3 years or until 200.000 kms.
How many kms/miles do you have ?
Any around 100.000 kms ?

My Ride: E61 525iA Build 2004/08. "Safirschwartz Metallic". Navi Pro, Adaptive Headlights, Bi-Xenon, Panorama Sunroof etc... CIP 18.00.01 (No noticed bug)
If you maintain the service schedule, it can probably reach a million km:s - at least the engine. The problem is all the sensors and small electric motors that will stop functioning after some working hours. You then reach a point where they are to expensive to replace (of course one by one) compared with the market value of the car. I actually saw an E60 cab today. They are known for driving 200-300.000 km:s/year (at least where I come from).
We used to have a E39 in the family before (a ?97 touring with steptronic). When we traded it in just before summer, the meter was on 210.000 KMs and during all those years we only had one (1) sensor and the motor for the rear windshield wiper replaced. Other than that - nothing besides the regular maintance!! Like a Swiss watch.... (and we were quite happy to drive that one pretty rough...)
(Just imagine if we in 8 years could say; "I never had to upgrade the software in my E60" )

I have 33K miles on my car at the moment. I'll plan to shift to 550 when I get to ~48K miles. It does not make sense to me to own an unreliable car. Engine and suspension are perfect, but not software, electronics and sensors.

My Ride: 530d (Jan 2005) premium pack, pro nav, steptronic
I have 20,000 kms with my 530d (delivered on January 2005).
No major problem but many small annoying bugs (nav software, tmc, window seal, anti-trap window, seat creaks, transmission jerk...). Some are fixed, some are coming up. I really don't know how my car will be in 2 years from now (more problems or everything fixed ?).

Had mine since Nov 22nd 2004. I've got 18000Km clocked in. In Singapore, rule of thumb is 1800Km per month in order to preserve resale value.
