I read about it in the owner's manual but wasn't clear on what it was.

When you push the gas pedal all the way to the end you feel resistance, push it further. The auto tranny shifts down and the car revs high and accelerates hard.

I always thought kickdown was if you have an auto box, and it selects the lower gear when you put your foot flat to the floor. It knows because you have your pedal right down that you want lots of acceleration, so it selects the gear below, giving you some more acceleration.

Weird thing is the onwer's manual recommends using kickdown during the intial break-in period, but also recommends not fully accelerating. How can you do one without the other?
