i just had to go to the stealer to purchase a new key, if they knew the keys were gonna all fail eventually in a couple of years why wouldnt they make them cheaper.ohh yeahh thats right i drive a bimmer let me just shut up altogether then!!!!!!!!!!!!
A couple of years ... you must be abusing your keys!

My Comfort Access fobs use a replaceable watch battery that are good for 2-3+ years. My e38 keys were the type that charged when inserted and are still going strong since 2001 according to the owner who bought mine last year.

My 1995 740 keys all work fine. Factory originals. I've changed the battery a few times.

My dealer offers a few "benefits" for all new car purchases. One was the free replacement of up to one lost key.

Actually it's meaningless the answer a axiomatic question.

Go to GM and ask for a cheaper key...
if i had a gm i would have cut the key myself so dont comment if you've got nothing better to say, keep it moving!

They dont all fail in a couple of years, everything fails eventually... I'm sure there's a lot of 2004 keys here that are still working fine.

That kind of statement earns you no sympathy, if you were more sincere about the whole thing I would have felt bad for you and said it sucks that your key failed so early... but with that kind of statement I'm just thinking... " Sucks to be you, too bad, hope you other key fails too"
that was rude...easy bud the guy was makin a joke

Some (or one, anyway) friendly response, but is what friends are for.

Try buying an Infinity key. Wholesale $650 + tax + programming.

If you drive a top of the line lexus and lose both keys, dealer will take care of you for $3500. I wonder if they charge the extra 10% for shop supplies.

Ya I know... it wasnt intended not to be rude... I found his post rude too so I made my own rude post. No harm... we can still be friends... the moment has past... unless he still wants to hold a grudge...

P.S. But look at his post #16... still no good... so
