i believe it is a tint..
I got dark tint and remote didnot work well with distance. Last week i took my tint off and i tried again with same key and it was much better. My SA told me that my tint would be the problem...

I didn't realize some of the films used to tint automobile windows made with a metallic material. Is that is the case, it's like wrapping the car with a shield that would block both incoming AND outgoing transmissions. (like radar detectors or add-on GPS)?
he had his whole windows with front windshield also tinted while mine was everywhere except front.
His radar detector did not catch any signal while mine did. So we swap detector on the way back because we thought that it might be the radar detector but no it was tint.
since our remotes use frequency, it might be a problem getting trasmitts into the system.

I have 3M 35% charcoal tint and have the same problem. I only had the car 2 days before I got it tinted, so I didn't really know what the real range was. I complained to the dealer about the poor range. They said it was the tint. I learned to live with it.
