I purchased a 2006 550 with comfort access (CA) about 6 months ago. At the time the key fob only worked to unlock and to touch the door handle to lock, although it was persnickety. BMW said I need a new fob ($400). When I was there the title charge had not cleared so I could not order a key. btw the trunk function works.

Last week I pushed the lock button and it worked. 4-5 times. Then it quit again. I replaced the little battery inside although I think I read that it has little to do with the functionality for my problem. No change- still doesn't work.

Why did it work for that brief time? Do I have to replace the fob.

Thanks for your insight.

John

You can have it replaced by BMW but I wouldnt go that route. To save some $$ I would have it fixed. Look at this website and see if this is the route you want to take. I had both my fobs done, reprogrammed them and everything worked 100 times better. He also is on ebay too.

You are welcome. I have found out alot of things since I have owned a BMW. Most on this site and YouTube. I always try to find the cheapest way first. Let us know if it worked for you if you go that route.
