I should imagine that all the software programed into the vehicle is linked in one way or another.
So if you go for chiptuning be careful not to upgrade your car's software. The company that tuned my car told me that they are working with BMW to prevent this from happening in the future, they said that they could have a breakthrough in something like a month orso, let's hope they are right.

i e-mailed kempower and they said this that i didnt understand.
"No the remap is directly done on the chip, because with the new generations
of common rail called EDC16, it is not possible anymore to remap it via the
diagnostic port, because we have to read 3 memories (normal chip, special
chip and microprocessor). Therefore it is always necessary to open the ECU
to reprogram."
please could someone explain that in if they can?
they also said that they dont increase boost.
Don't be afraid, there is no increase of turbo pressure only a
optimalistaion of the injection that gives this result.
Notice that this car gives already 188 hp & 420 Nm -> end result 266 hp &
570 Nm
This gives no smoke at all and the original turbo lag at lower rpm is so
good as away.
It can not be detected by BMW diagnostics. It is a remap on a new chip.
every sounds good to me!!!!!!!!!
