Hey everyone,

The question I pose today is to keep or not to keep...my E60 after CPO warranty expires. I'm at 75k miles and will be around
83k ish when CPO expires?
My question is what perils lurk around the corner when nearing 100k miles? Expensive fixes, or 'cheaper to keep her'?
This thing is pampered and in great condition....all work (if any) done at dealer.

Thanks for the input.

sidenote: I love E60 and despise F10 so 'upgrading' not an option!

I say keep!! Just find a good independent BMW mechanic, an enthusiast, actually!

So I have a local indy BMW shop I used to go to when I had my old 325 and asked him what's needed around 100k and he said:

-spark plugs replaced
-fuel filter
-transmission fluid change/ new filter

grand total......1k

This sound about right????

I agree. Nine years ago, I bought a 1997 528i 5MT @ 92,000 miles. I drove it until earlier this month when a tree fell on it, totaling it. Early on, I found a BMW mechanic who had opened his own shop servicing BMWs pretty much exclusively. He was good, and charged about 60% of what the dealer was getting (e.g. $40 for and oil and filter change). Over time, I had some brake jobs, the trunk switch went, I had to replace the radiator, the passenger seat airbag sensor had to be replaced, and I think the water pump was also replaced. Not cheap repairs by any means, but they were things that you replace with any car over 5 years old. No one says you have to drive the car to 196,000 miles like I did, but it certainly saved me a lot of depreciation over if I had upgraded every few years.

Bottom line, if you love the car, and it's in as good condition as you claim, you'd be a fool to give it up. If it starts looking like major things are starting to go, or you see features you wish you had, then you can go for a new one. Good luck with your decision!

1k for those 3 is insane!!!!!!!! I did all those on my E46 M3 for about $250 on parts with best quality. I did the work myself and a easy job.
