Well, it looks like we're picking it up Friday afternoon. I am absolutely stoked! Now I need to get rid of the little squeaks in my Xterra so she'll drive it to work every day leaving me with the 550 ;-)

congrats, awesome ride, just upgrade the shocks to coils and you'll be better off than a stock SP car anyways

Exactly...That's one reason why I wasn't that worried about the lack of sport package. If I felt that at some point I needed it then I would just get coilovers and call it a day. I plan on putting 19" Miro 111's on it when the tires are ready to be replaced....I wonder if the 19's would look OK with stock non sport suspension...

You are correct in that the none M BMW's have electronic "limited slips" but these electronic nannies just doesn't feel right to me. I've found an aftermarket person/company that'll supply me with a limited slip diff for the 550 which I'm considering. At track or autocross events I tend to turn off the DSC/DTC completely off - keeping the nannies on makes the car feel like it's being held back by a leash. Just doesn't feel right.

Soooooo where are you sourcing the diff and what kind is it? Just curious. I nearly pulled the trigger on a LSD for my '99 528i but ended up pulling the trigger on an '07 550i Sport SMG instead.

I left two nice lines with my DSC/DTC turned off a couple months ago. Was just seeing if I could do it - WOW! I posted a thread on it as well, but someone said the brake pressure is a lot on the 550's and doesn't make to many burnouts good for the tranny.

You were offered a bit of misinformation with the 550 brake pressure- With the DSC/DTC switched off, the brake system applies one rear brake at a time to the wheel thats spinning some multiple faster than the other wheel. Then the other wheel becomes the easier wheel to spin and more power is directed to it. Its not as good of a system as a mechanical lock LSD but much better than just liquifying one tire or the other.
Your brakes are taxed more during normal stopping than during this LSD function that only is working for the first 20 ft of a burnout. Think about what it takes in stopping a 4000 lbs 550 that been going 80mph and is approaching a red light.
