K I was on the freeway cruising at about 80 mph on my way home and a 335i happened to be on my tail for the last couple minutes. After I had switched lane (from far left to middle) he got up his car right beside mine, we were side to side maintaining the speed at about 80-85 MPH. I guess after enough throwing glances at each other's car for about 15 seconds (it was pretty dark 7:30 PM, but I can see the driver inside), the other guy decided to floor it. Of course in response to his challange I switched to DS mode and hit full throttle.
At first he seemed to be gaining distance from me due to the headstart, from 80-110 mph I couldn't close the distance but managed to keep the distance from getting any further (it was about 3/4 car length). After reaching 110 MPH, this is where the V8 kicks in... the 335i's twin turbo seems to start losing its power and as I reach 130-140, I just completely surpassed him.
Both of the cars were pretty much stock, but I had the aFe CAI stage 2 mod on my 550i (11.75 more HP, so they say...)
Well the thrill ride didn't last too long after reaching 140 mph becuz I was nearing my Exit... but it was quite fun tho
I would have loved it if it had gone longer... (more risks of getting caught by the cops also
)
btw is the 335i coupe speed limiter set to 130 or 150?
I been wondering about this...

As an officer maybe you should learn how to spell check first before arresting people
Just my 2 cents....

Screw it, I'll admit it...
This was 11 years ago, mind you, so bare with me here. I was in my early 20's and stupid. I was living in SF and I sped down 280 South (just past Crystal Springs Golf Course) and got up to 130mph in my old Jetta GLX (Great car b/t/w). Was it stupid? Maybe. I was following a friend in his Mustang. He was local and knew the roads. It was a Saturday afternoon and the road was wide open (not many cars). It lasted for a few hundred yards, before returning to the 80mph range.
And I must admit it guys, especially for those that live in the Bay Area, HWY 280 is a road that screams "speed". I never got that feeling on 101, but with 280, I would always see drivers speeding. It's pretty easy to get the lead foot on that road, esp when it's wide open.
(I know I'm going to get it for saying this on this thread...so just hit me with it. Come on, lay into me and tell me I'm an idiot).![Tongue](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/tongue.gif)

Ballyowen was a great course (shot a 76 there) =) And doubled 7 and 11

We had a group of 20 on the trip. We play a Ryder cup every year and alternate locations (Brits vs. USA)
Great times
However one of our group members was driving back from a bar in Sparta late night and was pulled over because someone threw a cigarette out the window. Needless to say, the police were not very happy and wrote up a very hefty ticket for polluting...
Smoking can be a very expensive habit

Take it easy on the guy...he was just playing a joke. No need to rip him on his spelling. That's how threads get out of hand. I know you're young and all, but try and be cool around here. We're happy you're a part of this forum and I know that you enjoy your 550, as I heard you visit Darwin for ideas, but just keep it chill. No need to rip on anyone or get defensive. We're all here to learn and have fun. ![Thumbsup](https://5series.net/forums/images/smilies/imported/thumbsup.gif)
