Excellent! Exactly what a lot of us expect. Nice run. Theres plenty of posts about not racing on the streets but use your judgment. When conditions are right floor it a bit... but once you see another car up ahead slow down. Just dont play the who has the bigger balls game. Thats stupid. What you did I dont have much problems with.
Exactly... its fine to let our toys rip once in awhile when the conditions are right, right? =p I mean, you don't get a chance to duke it out with another BMW enthusiast everyday. So might as well have some fun instead of keeping your car going 70-80 all the time. Why else would you choose BMW? "Performance"

140 on a public freeway in the bay area? If you're telling the truth, you are a total a-hole. Not cool, my family lives there (as do millions of others) and that shit is not OK. You should lose your car and your license. Try a track day at Infineon if you want to go fast. And don't give me "the freeway was empty" line...I've been to the Bay Area at 7:30 PM.
You give BMW drivers a bad name.

What a fascinating thread, which made me think about something. Sure we have our opinions on when it's right/safe to drive over 100 when "no one's looking". Only the weak-minded are the one's that'll get themselves caught, or worse off ... crash. Then I thought about something: what makes it "wrong" for any of us to drive so fast whether solo or racing another car when there are guys like Steve Dinan who's been tuning BMWs for over 24 years (mine included) and has taken my car on a Bay Area road to 175 mph on a test run after a software update? Is Dinan "wrong" for doing these runs that he's been doing for over 2 decades when he knows he's not endangering anyone around? Or is it his racing background that somehow makes it "right"?

You and the idiot you were racing are stupid. I've lived in SF all my life and the roads are NEVER that clear at 7:30 at night. I don't care if your attitude is "no one got hurt". How about if someone innocent got killed? So, tell us where you were doing 140+. The only place is at the end of 280. You would run out of highway before you got to that speed and run into traffic. You highway racing idiots reall piss me off. Gee, what happens if there is a stalled car with it's lights off....oops! Real SMART move.
Why not just take it out on 280 early Sunday morning when there really is no traffic and make a speed run? Racing on public roads (especially in SF) is plain and outright stupid and dangerous. Take it to the track.
