The front looks like an Acura, and the tail end looks like a new Mercedes E class! Eh!

OMG

What is independent about the Saab or GM?

US state owned GM (just nationalized) is not independent and they have not sold the Saab yet.

The buyer would be the Swedish supercar manufacturer Koenigsegg that has some 50 employees now.

But still, the Swedes may put in the $$$$$$$$$...
Well, the Koenigsegg deal essentially closed in mid-August, but it is subject to a financing contingency. Provided those funding contingencies are indeed met - and despite some ongoing posturing, it's looking probable that they will - Saab is no longer part of GM and will operate under the Koenigsegg umbrella. Hence the use of the term "newly independent". It's not the first time, and it won't be the last, that a much larger operation is taken over by a smaller one.

So let me throw the right back at ya, Ric.

I don't see much of a 5 in these designs.

i just read the article.

interesting:

Launch engines are a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo diesel with 118kW (160hp), a 2.0-litre petrol turbo making 162kW (220hp) and a 2.8-litre V8 petrol producing 221kW (300hp) and peak torque of 400Nm. Soon after the launch a 1.6-litre petrol turbo with 132kW (180hp) will be unveiled. At the same time a 2.0-litre BioPower E85 engine is to debut as well. Mated with all these engines are 6-speed transmissions.

You want to see a ripoff of the E60? Check out the 2009 Accord. Its so damn obvious its without shame. I can't even understand how Honda designers could do this without feeling total embarrassment in their profession with this abomination. I've driven this car as a loaner by the way, and the interior is cheap as hell and it handles like crap.

Yes on all counts, Honda makes great fuel efficient motors and the cars are reliable but they drive like crap compared to a BMW.

I see these guys who drive their new accords around where I work. They have their car all chromed out and you can tell they think they're bad ass, untill I drive up and they turn their heads. I laugh everytime i see them pull out of the parking lot.

The Koeniggsegg cannot pay GM all they require for the Saab licence, and the Swedish government refuse to chip in with the rest (3/4) of the cash needed.
Latest is that Koeniggseg will pull it of, a secret investor will chip in the ammount GM wants.

This is my first post, im from Norway, just bought my 520i, 2004. Owned a Mercedes CLK 200 Kompressor before the BMW (have not received it yet)
It has 170HP and costed me 60 000 USD! It is amazing to me how big difference the car prices are in USA versus Norway. I envy you because you can own cars with many horsepower!! I will post pics when I receive it! Tips for making it more sexy. are gladly received.
