My Ride: 2006 525XI, Jet black on Dakota beige. Premium and winter packages. I consider myself a purist and intend to keep my car absolutely stock and shiny. 2008 328I Convertible, Sapphire black on beige interior. Premium package, NAV, iPod adapter. Retired: 2002 325I, Titanium silver on black leather. Premium package. Absolutely stock and proud of it.
Thumbs up

Seems to be shifting smoother. I still detect some slight "harshness," but I will give it the benefit of 1,000 miles "learning period. Seems stronger and not fickle at all.

I was told my software is "e060-08-09-530." Does anybody know what version this translates to? Ie. 31.1, 31.2 27.x stc.

Thanks for any info.

Joe

Default

I've received some requests to explain why my transmission needed replacement, so here it is:

Car seemed to shift at the wrong time. During a 20 mile trip, it would shift (up or down) very harsh about 7 or 8 times.

Many times, as I was slowing down to stop, say at a red light, but not completely stopped, there would be a delay and a slam if I had to accelerate before coming to a full stop, such as when the light turns green before coming to a full stop.

The first time, the dealer updated my software. It seemed to help slightly with the harsh shifting, but it did not help at all with the slam. I called the dealer again and they said to bring it back for a ride with the shop foreman. During the short ride, none of the conditions could be duplicated, but he said that he was very familiar with the slam symptom after accelerating from a slow down and that he would run some tests.

As far as I know, there were no codes, but on the ticket they wrote that after doing some mechanical checks on the transmission they determined that the car needed a new transmission. I've only had the car since September and it is a 2006, 525XI. The transmission is remanufactured, which is pretty standard even if you were to pay for it.

Today, the car seems to be shifting a lot smoother than yesterday. I think it's adapting nicely to my driving style. Feels very solid and smooth as silk. My fingers are crossed.

I was told my software is "e060-08-09-530." Does anybody know what version this translates to?

Thanks,

Joe
