what a difference in acceleration and sportiness "feel". really gives an extra punch off the line i am so excited i figured this out - guess i could have read the manual, or searched the forum

is there any problem overusing this mode??? for example in the manual it states that using Acceleration Assistant (with dynamic driving control for SMG autos) can cause premature wear. is this different than the DS for my steptronic automatic?

"Acceleration Assistant" or "Launch control" performs far more aggressive things with the gear and clutch than you'd ever manage doing with the steptronic box. There shouldn't be any problem using the DS-mode frequently - apart from the fact that it will lead to a higher consumption when the mode is used.

I use DS mode only now. It gives better shift response and more umph. I like it much more. It's almost like upgrading the engine over the 3.0 liter that I have.

No problem at all apart from the fact that it will lead to a higher consumption when in DS mode.

95% I use DS mode.

WOW! 95 % of the time in DS??

I use it about 5 % of my driving...

What type of driving to you frequent DS-mode drivers do ? Shorts trips? In city ?

I drive mostly highway... 120 - 150 km/t...

There's no reason to use DS when cruising on the highway - drop to D.

i use it for pulling away from the line when im in a hurry or overtaking. on motorway I drop into D. infact id say 99% of driving is done in D.

If im behind some slow bugger whos really annoying me i slap it over into DS and then shift down as many gears as the box will let me then prepare to floor it.

Actually, non-highway driving is probably 95% DS--on highway I primarily use D.

Ya DS is pretty cool, but remember, your tranny will not go into 6th while in DS, so when cruising on the freeway, slide it over to D to get 6th gear and better gas mileage.
