Just looks cleaner as all that type stuff on the back of a car reminds me of the 70's "ho much numbers and letters can you put on the back of your car" hype.
and if I do not de-badge, some kids in the neighborhood will do it for me, with all damages included.
Hiding the "inferior" engine... could not care less, I drive what I can afford and here in the netherlands where a 525i pretty much totals to a
110.000 USD, there is nothing to be ashamed about me thinks ;-)

Hah. Just about a half hour ago some guy in a blue e60 M5 pulls next to me in slow traffic and waves me down. I roll down my window and he yells/asks me while we're driving, "Why did you de-badge it?".

My GTR is debadged....my twin turbo Viper is debadged....and so is my 530. It has nothing to do with owning a "lower model". For me, its all about a clean look. Especially when they're black.

I have debadged every car I have ever owned. Whether it was the top of line model or not. I just think it makes the back look a whole lot cleaner. However, I had to debadge my 5 series because I bought a chrome piece that goes along the rear of the car, and it just looked weird with the badge still on. Plus, we drive a 5 series..these cars are near $46K brand new, not one single 5 series is a "low end" car at all. We shouldn't have anything to feel bad about because we may drive a 525 or 528..come on, its a damn 5 series. And I drive a 528 in Platinum Bronze Metallic.

If it's not wearing a badge i usually assume it's a company car.
I REBADGED my 535d when i purchased it, if it was a 520i i'd have removed them right away.
