My Ride: 2006 525Xi, premium package, premium sound, steptronic, bi-xenon adaptive lights, PDC, rear sun shade, rear heating, cold weather package.
I just called BMW NA regarding the MP3 play capability on 2006 E60.
The service rep seems very knowledgable, he anwered all my questions
with confidence. Well, I have to wait until July to verify if they are all
true or not. <_<
He said the for the 2006 E60, as long as you don't have NAV.,
you can play the MP3 from the in-dash player.about play MP3s
from CD-Changer, he said according to his technical bullentin, he did
not see anything indicate that, so he was not sure about that, but 100%
certain that non-Nav one can play MP3 now from the in-dash player.
Maybe that is the reason that some of the member without Nav can play
MP3s now.
For Bluetooth, as long you have BMW Assist, you should be fine.
Again, those claims are valid for Model Year 2006 E60s only.

I wouldn't trust them!
According to BMW Munich, radio pro is required. And it still looks like US spec cars have the radio bus as the standard radio.
The members who have no nav and MP3 here on our forum are not from the US, or have Sirius without nav. So the guess is, that Sirius, if factory installed, has radio pro...
The changer can NOT play MP3's. Nav or not...
