I have been experimenting with both the "regular" summer grade diesel, and Shell's V-Power diesel (which costs about 0.40?/liter MORE in Germany and Italy) during our current trip. I have bought two tanks (+60 liters each) of the Shell super diesel and it was not cheap!
Aside from the V-Power costing a lot more, I have not noticed any benefit or difference.

I would use the V-Power Diesel if you can afford it - it is ?108.9 today so a good 6p/liter more than regular diesel.
I have been using the V-Power Diesel from Shell exclusively for the past 6 months [used regular diesel for first 18 months] and while I have not seen any noticeable increase in mileage as claimed, the engine runs much quieter and has more shove. Might explain why I am not getting the added mileage because I am having too much fun off the blocks!

Unless you can get it tax free, it can be an expensive fill up!
Four recent fill ups:
1. Garmisch, Germany
2. Livigno, Italy (tax free)
3. Garda Lake, Italy
4. Ambach, Austria
Padova, Italy (no pic) was probably the most expensive: 89?.

My Ride: 535d M Sport / Carbon Black Metallic / Aluminium cube / black leather sports seats / Prof. SatNav / Bluetooth.
I have tried all the variations over 30k miles and cannot tell them apart.
But if the expensive Shell stuff gives you peace of mind then it is worth the money.
Enjoy your new Beast!
