Its always been that way. My 2002 530 had the same engine as a 2002 330. The 540/545 has the same engine as the 740/745. What wold upset me more is if BMW starts to offer the top ofthe line 5 engine in thte 3 series - ie, a 345.

Your right to be peeved. I was suprised that the 530 came out with the old engine and no Valvetronic. I'm looking at either a R6 or 545. But, there will be always something better coming along.

Exactly. Hell, researching and finding the best car is half the fun and then there is little regret.

I started thinking of a car in 04 and looked at the E60 when it hit the lot. Was impressed right off the bat. But, I held out buying knowing that the 05 A6 would be coming and old 3.0 engine was only being offered. While I'm still waffling a bit, its 70/30 in favor of the 5er. Either an r6 or 545. Glad I waited to see 05 A6 before I make the big plunge.

PS I'll stop posting on topics I read in RF!!!!! I promise. LOL

hahaha

im in a similar situation, but now that I've seen the M-sport pkg that BMW offers everywhere but by BMW NA,

im torn, because that package finally, in my mind, completes the E60 looks to where I want them to be....so, Im forced to wait and hope BMW NA will allow me this package...also, there will be some little changes for the MY06's that I want to wait for so I have to wait in angony a little more...

Well look at it this way, the ladies probably like the 5er 525/530/545 better and they'll think you are more "cashed up" than the 3er driver!

I have a similar situation, my brother in law has an 04 330i step, I have an 04 530i step, he says my car is heavier and he'll race me. DUH!

Anyways, i can still trade my car in for an 05 or 06 330i (not that i would my 545i is coming) so it's all a pecking order contest! You know what they say, the one with the most toys wins!

Always waiting for something better to come along? I hope you don't take this approach with your women... things could get a little blue.
