In my opinion, having owned two E60's the first being silver and the second jet black - I prefer a lighter color. Black washes out the lines and makes subtle (yet important) body lines virtually invisible. While it looks great after a professional detail, the blandness and monotony of the color make me not want to own another black car.

I have Mystic Blue Metallic, and it might not be as much a pain to care for, but I guarantee I spend just as much time keeping my car shiny & clean if not more than the guys with black. These cars look so damn good all shined up, so how could you not spend all your time keeping it immaculate? Anyway I've had mine for about 6 months now, and I absolutely love the color and I get compliments just about anytime I drive the thing. People ask if its a BMW factory color or if I had it painted aftermarket, because it sparkles and changes colors in the sunlight...looks awesome!! Go with the Deep Sea Blue or Mystic Blue or any other blue color, you wont regret it!

My 2008 535i is my second Black Sapphire car and they are indeed hard to keep clean. I also used to own an MB in Black Opal which is similar to Monaco Blue and it was also hard to keep clean BUT easier than any Black. In 2008 models, you might want to watch out for Platinum Grey and Neptune Blue as well. In Canada there were 13 colours that year.

I have a Jet Black 550. Although black is a chore to keep looking good, I found that my jet back is more forgiving than my wifes metalic black honda. My car seems to look cleaner for longer
