Default JB+ settings?

I picked up a used JB+ for my 08 535i and am wondering how much I should crank it up initially? The car is stock except for a K&N filter and I don't plan on doing any major mods. I'm just looking for the best performance I can get out of my daily driver without any issues. I understand I can try different settings but getting to it may be a hassle.

Thanks for any input.

I'm running it on map 5. Tried map 1 to start, but I like 5 better. Mine's stock aside from DCI.

Thanks for the input,

What's the downside going with higher settings? I'm trying to avoid a lot of trial and error.

Not completely sure, but map 5 feels stronger by comparo. I'm assuming map 1 is a canned map that *should* be OK for stock but 5 adapts. Now, adapts how I don't know for sure. Somebody correct my assumptions if not so.

He's got a JB+, not a JB4....

Keep the dial either at the 12 o'clock position or turn it up a bit to 1 o'clock for now. You may want to consider picking up some DCI's to replace the stock intake. That will give you easy access to the JB+ for any future tweaks. Also, start saving your pennies and replace it with a JB4 G5 ISO when you can. It's much smoother, more powerful, has tons of great features, and is easier on the engine.

It's not installed yet but currently at the 1:00 position. I'm going to roll with that and see how the car adjusts for a week or so. Also, I'm sticking with a drop-in filter for now and don't plan on any other engine performance related mods.

Thanks again.
