If you're a driver , and enthusiast , I think the Jag would become somewhat boring over time . I think the styling is quite clumbsy personally , almost like they are struggling to find a new personna.That aside , the reviews have been very favourable and more people seem to be giving Jag a second look . Personally I would'nt roll the dice until model year 3 on something so new . The 535 is bullet proof and very fun ( And I'm a 550 driver!! )................. just my $ .02 , good luck !! keep us posted

 

If I have to pick one today, I will get Jag XF. There are too many e60 in Southern California. It's like driving a camry.

 

Get Skoda Octavia, they must be quite rare over there too

 

jag is not a manufacture that you can trust. they break all the time, as good as it may look they are built cheap. jag takes way too much pride in there parts. in my opinion ford does a good job when it comes to there electrical systems. but who wants a "so called" hightline brit car that is owned manufactured by an american car company "not so highline". +1 on the bmw. -1 jag

 

 

Jag value will drop like a rock....like most in the past. Something to consider. To me, I wouldn't like the sense (or lack thereof) of quality on a day to day basis.....whether perceived or otherwise. E60 all the way! Much more a driver's car.

 

It looks incredible from that view, but when looking at it from the front, I think the headlights are oddly shaped the interior is really unusual (you turn the knob to shift to D or P, etc.) and I have always heard that British cars were rather unreliable (Jag, LAnd and Range Rover, etc.). I would go with the 535, and this is coming from a guy in a Lexus family (3 of them). I can't even begin to elaborate on how awesome the ride and responsiveness is and I'm driving the xi, which is slightly sluggish in comparison to the i.

 

For $62K??!!?? Seriously folks. Price a 535 or 550 with 20"wheels and 285-wide tires in theback, navigation system, upgraded audio, all the bells and whistles of the XF supercharged (you can't even get many of them on the 5-series).

Then price the Dinan mods to take it to 420HP and 400+ ftlbs.

Where will you be? $75K? And you still have a car that is (at least where I live) a dime a dozen, particularly, since, from a distance, many people can't even tell a 335 from a 535 without a double take.

I for one am only interested in leasing for as short a period as I can get. So I could care less about resale value, long term reliability, etc. Jaguar finance is assuming all those risks, and since they are leasing with slightly higher residuals than the 5-series, it becomes very attractive.

My only reservation is rear seat room and the really thin front tire sidewall. I wish they were 45-series at least.

I have never driven the XF and I have very little interest in Jaguar, but I think your comments about the 535 are spot on.
I seriously do not understand all of the criticism of the iDrive. I love the iDrive and have no problems with it at all.
