Have you guys and gals (any E60 ladies here?) noticed that there are more and more E60s on the road lately? I remember just as recently as last year, I hardly saw two a week. Now I am seeing 5 or 6 per day!

Another observation is that most of the ones I see do not have the sports package.

Thanks to the services of one of our forum members, Fred Meloan, you can find that answer and many more by looking at his reports...

Ditto that for the UK as well

Loads of E60s - at least down here in London.

For those interested in residuals, because of supply and demand, this may mean higher lease costs or it may become more difficult to dispose of your vehicle at a premium price.

Of course if you're a buyer in the future second-hand e60 market it will be music to your ears.

My dealer is expanding. They are converting the dealer next door, which is biggger into a "BMW previously owned center". Thats a huge investment!

Given that so many are leased they have a predictable stream of cars returning. I guess if these don't go into the wholesale auction as frequently the prices get supported.

Its an attractive used car!

I think turbo models might not in the future. Audi for one has gone away from turbos as it might be contributed to its poor used market values. I never bought a turbo car, only leasing them as I did not want that time bomb to fix out of warranty!

While low compression turbos on BMW's are cool, has it been expensed as to what it would cost to replace one? Two?

I recall seeing the audi figures and when it came time at lease ends to decide if I wanted to keep it the answer was in thinking about future service. My allroad with adjustable height suspension and TWIN turbos we kind of scarey!

If not for those two, I might have considered buying it. But it was those turbos that make the quattro go nice.
Its one thing to repair a house, but to put $6000 into a car that might have a value of 10-15k is a bad thought.

While I think the BMW motor does not need turbo to be competitive, is it a smart idea long term given residuals and service reputation?

Instant gradification and boosting sales short term is nice, but at what cost?

E60 everywhere, in my city, but only 525d-530d-535d .
Today on the road I saw a black M5 too . And another M5 and an M6 at the dealer .

E60s are everywhere here in the Boston area. A lot of them are 525xi and 530xi. I seldom see any 545i, 550i. 530i with SP are seldom seen as well.

But yes, they are everywhere (leases are very affordable now)

... and it's one of the best resale value cars here in US.
thus I'd imagine demand is increasing.

Must be for the low spec ones only then.

My dealer doesn't give anymore than GBP 16,000 for my high spec 2004 69k miles 530d that costed GBP 51,000.
I doubt I'll get anything over 19,000 selling privately. With all the hassle of having punters coming to the house.
