... and it would be a good time to start learning to use the search function.

If you plan to fully integrate them into the iDrive it'll cost a lot.

For iPod you can go w/ the OEM iPod module, it has limitation (some 500 songs and most people use playlists to break it) and rather slow. I'm using aftermarket module from Dension GW500 not only give me iPod hook up but also USB port for thumb drive or portable HD along w/ RCA input but cost more.

Nothing for XM instead BMW uses Sirius (now they are combined the difference probably the channels) and only OEM module available.

Either or both module you have to have the Dealer (or Indy) do enable coding/programming in order show up as an additional input on the iDrive menu.

Another way is w/o iDrive integration via something like FM transmitter and/or AUX input & manually control them.

GL!

Trust me ...

There are members here installed it on '04 model (build date of '03) ... your '05 and my '07 has very minor (maybe even none) difference as far as non-Nav iDrive functionality.

You'll run into similar situation w/ the Dealer, as they clueless and will likely say no to do install and/or programming w/ Dension in your car since it's not OEM and they simply couldn't find proper info.

Instead of just simply rely on Dension site try to search for Dension on this forum.
