I have my iPod nano (16GB ) hooked up to my USB port on my 550. I went to the AUX and selected USB Device and I can control the iPod from my steering wheel, I can see all the Artists, Albums, Songs, and Genres. However, when I go to my playlists it says "no information detected" - What's going on? I do have playlists, a dozen or so. Why can I not see them?

Are you using the center console USB or the glove box USB? My 2010 has the hard drive so maybe different than 2008, but I believe the center console USB requires the factory Y connector for all MYs to use with any iDevices. I'm using the center console with iPhone 5 and it detects the playlist. Sorry couldn't be of any more help.

If you are just using the apple cable to the USB that could be the problem. I have a BMW cable that connects to the usb and aux then to the ipod.

You guys were right, I picked up a Y cable on Amazon for $20, installed it. Now the iPod works perfectly, I have all my playlists, artists, songs, albums, genres, everything. Thanks guys
