Ipod "remember playback position

I used the "remember playback position" feature on my Ipod to make my songs to continue playing from where I turned off the car, but the problem now is after couple of days of switching around songs, I got back to some of those songs that I skipped before and can't make it play from the beginning of the song anymore. I have to fast-backward to get it to play from the beginning. Is there anyway to keep this feature on for continuous playback after car's turned off and to play songs from the beginning when selected?
