IPOD Playing issue
#1
Hi All:
I have a 2007 550i. This morning when I started driving, I noticed on the idrive screen the ipod music list was showing and it appeared to be playing but no sound comes out. I can switch to radio mode or Sattelite mode fine and I can hear the music. What could be wrong with the IPOD? The music was playing fine last night when I came home. The cable is located inside the glove compartment and it was installed by the dealer.

Test the ipod....does it work in another docking station? You definately have auxilary connection to your idrive or the music list wouldn't be present. Test the ipod's 3.5mm female input jack with an external player (headphones) to see if it works. Also check your male jack in the glove box. Could be your male jack, your gateway device or could be a programming failure issue. Make sure all cables are seated correctly before anything.

Note that the adapter on my 2005 may be different - ymmv, but for what it's worth, read on:
After just upgrading to the latest Nano (having run a 5th-gen Nano in the car with zero problems), I started to have occasional freezes and lockups with the 6th-gen Nano (with the touch screen).
Although there is I believe the occasional random lockup, it appears to me that there is a relatively consistent lockup triggered by allowing the final track in a particular directory to play through to the end of that track. I realized as I'm writing this that one can set an option to repeat the directory, so it is possible that if I do this it indeed will repeat without incident (this is how my prior-version behaved, so I don't know whether there is something strange with the latest Nano, or whether it was a problem with the adapter all along).
As far as how to fix it, simply unplug the iPod from the adapter. As long as the iPod doesn't need to be reset, you should be able to plug it back in and have it work again. If the iPod needs to be reset, just follow the instructions for that reset and it should be fine.
