iPod Music
12GB is deifnitly not enough space for anyone withi a decent music library. And the interface for simply selecting an album off of ipod using iDrive is awful. Does anyone else do anything differnet?
i've heard of rockbox, but don't know anything about it. Also has anyone successfully swaped the hard drive to something much bigger? and is it easy to do?

Am I seriously the only person that has asked this question? Anyone out there ever question if it is possible to change partition to have more then 12GB for music space? My bit rate is 192.. I considered converting everything down to 128.. But probably will lose too much quality..
Please if theres anyone out there that has a solution aside from ipod(which my wifes hundai has a better interface then idrive with ipod) please inform me.

Knowing what your car or setup is might help with responses. I have LCI and the iPod is in the center console. Currently I have a 32g iPod touch running the within the idrive and another 32g touch in the glove box that has only movies connected to the video link. Not sure what the largest iPod you can get that will work though...

The problem i have with the ipod, is how you choose an album
example
with hard drive you select artist, album, track,, done
with ipod you select artist.. then choose artist.. then you selecet album.. then choose album.. then you select track.. then choose all tracks. then you hit start play
Am I missing something? Cause that is by far the most annoying way to select album ive ever seen. thats worst then texting and driving by the time i pick my song lol
im using ipod video. not sure if that makes difference.
I can't believe that no one out there has tried swapping HDD. for a bigger one. seems to be the best interface.
and usb stick takes too long to load.

My bad yea it's a 2010.. I always get the cic and ccc mixed up. I know it's the version right before the combox came out. so I thought it was the same as all the previous idrive systems

People have swapped the HD for bigger ones. Its a weird OS so the drive had to be ghosted onto a new one using a certain type of software. I don't remember the name because I don't have CIC and was only reading out of general interest.
Check the CIC retrofit threads, I think I saw it there.
