I've installed the iDrive iPod upgrade, everything works great, so I thought. The iDrive display shows artists, albums, songs, etc. but won't show song titles past the 500th song. I know that there are over 800 songs on my iPod. In fact if I let the iDrive run songs consecutively it will play past 500 but the display shows nothing. Is this normal? Or is there something I have done wrong? Perhaps another software upgrade for iDrive?

I have 10,000 songs. you have to make playlists.

If you choose Disc 2 it will let you sort by artist
If you choose Disc 3 it will let you sort by Album
If you choose Disc 4 it will let you sort by Genre

If have so much music I can only make it up to the Ms when sorting by artist. I feel your pain x1000

500 songs is correct, if you have the M-ASK computer you can only load 500 songs per folder at a time, mine does the same thing, CCC computer can load more.

This has been the main reason behind my not having the ipod kit installed on my car. Can anyone confirm that a playlist having more than 500 songs will play correctly in a random format?

I have around 5.5gb of songs on my Iphone 3gs which is way more than 500 and i use all songs+random all, it seams to play fine.

Thanks to you all for the quick answers. I thought I was doing something wrong and was thinking "great that's what I get for installing this myself". Whew...

Also, to the person who asked about it playing past 500, yes it does, in both random and continous modes. The only issue is if it's the 501st song you can't see it on the display - it shows the last song played. It's only an issue when you're trying to find a particular song, album or artist that's after 500.

Otherwise I'm VERY happy with the iPOD. I had one of the first iPOD adapters (Alpine) in my M3, still do, and I've never looked back - that one displays the artwork of albums and plays and shows the over 8000 songs I have. I have not listend to a radio station in five years. I couldn't tell you what stations exist any longer.

The Ipod Integration kit will only list 500 songs. It can play more, but it'll take your forever.

I had the ipod integration kit before. You best bet is to get the Dension Gateway 500. That will split the song list in pages. Its the best thing. Loads super fast and you can search by title and artist fast. The Dension Gateway 500 indexes the Ipod/iphone song list. Also you get USB and AUX capabilities once you get the dension 500. As you can see, that is the clear winner here.
