how do you make it do that? All I've been able to do is select content from the iPod portion. And to the OP, mine also charges my 3GS, have not tried my 4 yet as I wanted a dedicated iPod that would be left in the glovebox so I used my old iPhone.

So the box connects to the little harness in the glove box? Can any of you take a picture perhaps?

Did some research and I think I have older Ipod interface and need adapter to make it charge the phone but curious if I can change the entire cable instead of adapter. I do not want it ti look bulky.

I have a 2008 LCI and my ipod connection is in the center console forward wall with a aux and USB input. Mine will charge all standard iPods except the Touch or iPhone. I had to get the BMW cable with the added power adaptor. I think it was around 75.00 and I also had to add a power socket in my console which I tapped from the rear console power adaptor. All works fine and it now keeps my iPod Touch charged. I hear that some cars will charge the Touch and iPhone without this cable, but mine would not... I also thought this connection in the console was in all LCI's but I am sure I am wrong.

Easy, plug your iPhone 3GS to the cable...in iDrive chose a song and play it, now go to your phone, launch youtube, play a video, notice that once the iPhone starts playing the video, it will switch from MP3 playback to whatever is playing in youtube. Audio will be sent to your car speakers. Video will remain on the iphone.

Same this for podcasts, besides syncing podcasts in itunes to your phone, you can go online with your iPhone, chose your favorite podcast and stream it. Again all audio will be sent to your car speakers.

Note however this is all manual intervention.

In iDrive (Pre LCI) I have...
MP3-1 MP3-2 MP3-3 all the way to MP3-6, each one represents something for example... MP3-1 = playlists MP3-2=artist, MP3-5 is podcasts that you synced from iTunes to your iPhone or iPod.

I also get the audio notifications sent to the speakers but that is annoying, because when i am playing music and get an e-mail, it interrupts playback for a second then goes back. Wish it did phone calls though.
