The mp3 retrofit does not work on my car due to the date it was manufactured. Will I be able to add an iPOD connection and control it through the iDrive? If yes, what parts do I need to make this happen? Do I need to visit the STEALER for anything?

You will need to the IPOD integration kit. And once you have that installed (Really easy job), you go 2 the dealership and have it programmed for your car. I see it costs roughly $140 for most users.

Any idea where I could buy the kit? Is there a procedure that anyone can share with me on how it's done? Thanks

Idea Have you try the search function?

I.e. for install http://forums.e60.net/index.php?showtopic=59271 and various other threads 'bout vendors(s) who sell OEM iPod module.

My Ride: '04 530d Executive, all options except sunroof and comfort seats ECU remapped by ZipTuning to 260+bhp.

A Dension 500 is also an option.
I'm using it in my '04 E60. It immitates an CD-changer and if your car already has the MP3 functionality enabled (ergo: you can play MP3-CD's), then you don't have to take a trip to the dealer.
Unfortunately, it is a bit pricier, but it has much more options (for example, a USB plug where you can plug in a pendrive of external harddrive) AND it charges your iPod/iPhone which the standard kit doesn't do without additional equipment.

the standard bmw interface charges ipods,

just not 2nd gen touch's and iphones. everything before that charges fine and thats because apple decided to change to 5v standards.
