So I just got my 2005 545i and I am not quite sure if it has the ipod hookup. I don't see anything visible that resembles an ipod hookup but the car does have bluetooth, 6 disc changer, and some L7 Sound thingy. What is the easiest, cheapest way to get an Ipod hooked up without paying 300 dollars and doing all kinds of modifications. I don't really need the cd changer if I can use an ipod and I don't have to control it through idrive, that is just a bonus. Can someone help? BTW I don't want to hear FM Transmitter.

going through the same exact thing with my e60 2005, 545i. I keep hearing about the dension gateway 500, but the 500 means $500 which is ridiculous to me. Hopefully we'll find a solution soon.

If you don't mind the iPod not integrating with iDrive, then just connect it through the Aux input...you get the iPod playing with your Logic7 sound quality...

There are many Ipod mods posted (no power supply; no integration with Logic7; poor base; etc.) but I see few or none for 2008 5ers. Did BMW fix all the problems in the 08? or do they all remain similar to the previous 4 years of 5ers?

Sorry but this whole Ipod topic is so all over the board, it is difficult to try to get a specific answer even when doing a search, as I spentt over an hour last night doing searches and there are NO clear answers, so with that said this is what I want, please help.

NO FM TRANSMITTER, no $500 wireharness, etc..... I want fast, simple, and cheap.
I could careless about controlling my ipod through idrive. If "aux in" will work then what cable do I need and where do I plug it into? (i have l7 and cd changer) ( I like it simple and effective and cheap. please help)

**BTW I still don't even know if my car has a built in ipod adapter, where would a stock ipod connector be on a 2005 545i?

Can someone please help me and my issue, apparently my thread has been hijacked.... Please help.

I am still wondering where the stock ipod connector would be in case my car already has the ipod hookup.

There is no ipod hook-up on the 05. It didn't even come out until 06 or 07. You need to have it installed--either the factory one or aftermarket. Don't know about aftermarket adapters, but with the factory one, your cd changer will be removed.
