Anyone have any suggestions where I could mount my IPhone dock so when I get into the seat all I have to do is put it in the dock. I know there is a spec dock made for the e60 but I can't for the life of me pay 150$ (for something i just paid 97¢ (shipped) from dealextreme) then risk cracking the fragile interior trim piece to install.

Now it's not to say spec is kind of ripping people off its I cant justify paying well over 100x more for something I believe can be jimmied myself

They've got a few options which are non-destructive (no drilling). I chose the mount that goes over the A/C vent. Also look at their options for sliding clips which let you quickly add or remove devices based on your need.

IMO the specdock looks clean and can be hidden when not in use. You drive a BMW, not a Ford! I have the specdock and it looks great. The only downside is the tray only comes in white, and no black trays are avaliable. I guess you could paint it, but then it will probably get scratched easily.

 

the spec.dock uses standard dock inserts. Buy a $20 black ipod alarm clock with the inserts off Amazon, and you're set. I've had a black insert in mine for over a year now, looks great.
