So i recently purchased my 2008 535i and I am trying to figure out how the iphone connection works for music (not bluetooth)
I have the attached wire connection in the center console but do I have to keep the console raise to plug in the phone, since the wires can't go thru the black holder thing.
Am I missing something here ?

Firstly, is the phone connection working.... if yes...then move onto the next step.
You can get that inner lid converted to hold the iphone.
call your dealer to discuss.. they have parts you can get reasonably cheap...maybe $80US.
then install yourself. its just a bit of plastics and there are plenty of DIY's of replacing this part for when you get a phone upgrade
