My Ride: 2005 525D Touring (E61)
Hello all!
I am experiencing a sort of a mystery when it comes to my spotlights, the light in the glove department, lights on the mirrors in "sun-shades" and in the trunk...
I am blank, but I am sure someone here has some suggestions.
Here are the sympthoms:
Most of the time the above mentioned lights do not work. The other internal lights connected to the doors are always working (these are on a different circuit?) But, occasionally, most straight after a start up, the lights might work.
But then for a brief period, or at next start-up they are gone again.
I tried the following; I pulled the fuse in the glove box/department to check it. It was all good. And upon putting the fuse back in... voila, the glove box light came on. i checked the spot-lights and the mirror lights and all were working. But it only lasted for a short while....
This is where I am stuck... left it at the local dealer for a check, but after an hour ofn searching they found nothing. I am not too eager spending more $$ unless I know they can solve it.
Any suggestions here? Would be highly appreciated!!
Thanks
Jan

Jan welcome to an exclusive club !!!!
As far as I know you are only the 3rd person to have this problem after 'Parmblagan' and myself:

I've given in on finding a solution and so has Parmblagan.
But if you do persevere and find a solution please let us know.
regards

Based on all the information and symptoms from the other threads, I'd agree that either the light module is failing completely or it just needs to be programmed by the dealer again...

Thank you all for your replies.
I will definitely post everything I can find that helps me in this issue and hope we can get some solutions for our problem.
Will ask the dealer about the awakening process from sleep mode and further about the light module tomorrow, since my car is already there to replace the compressor for the level system ( I have a touring).

I see we have the exact same problem! 100%
I know mine were working when I got the car, but I am not sure when they stopped working since these are rearly used, but... in one of the above posts the suggestion was that a software update caused this. That made me think... I had a software update some time ago when they (dealer) replaced the motor and control unit for the panorama sunroof. Maybe the new software srewed things up? But I know that trying to explain this theory to the dealer will not get me anywhere.
Further suggestions will be appreciated
Regards

Latest progress:
I received the car back from replacing the compressor for the level system (as I have a touring) and what do you know? Internal lights are working 100%
I have not yet received the papers so I know what was done, but I do expect that the car has been re-programmed, or something for the new compressor and that has done it.
When I get the papers I will let you know.
