Yesterday after turned off the engine the oil icon appeared on the dash between the gauges. I figured that meant the car was low. Immediately I wondered how could that be when I had checked the oil level 3 days earlier before driving back from South Carolina (approximately 360 miles).
About five minutes later I started the engine and looked at iDrive only to find the oil gauge reading low oil. Its important to not that I had driven almost two miles before the gauge showed any oil level. Finally upon restarting the car again the engine oil level was where I would have expected it to be. So far no other false readings have occurred.
Has anyone seen this before and if so what should I do about it?

I recently had a similar problem but checked oil with dip stick as per owners manual. The level was midway between the max / min mark so should have been OK. I slightly topped it up (1/2 litre) and it was OK.

I have had similar problem after a 200 mile drive my oil warning light came on, I checked the oil level with I drive and it showed that I was down one quart. The next day all was fine and still is two later, some sort of a techno glitch???
