hi guys,

i know this sounds radical - but am thinking of re-upholstering the interior in a less boring shade. my 2003 black e60 is black on the inside as well

am thinking of wrapping the dash with leather as well

can it be done?

I guess you must have seen the pictures of the M5's interior. Frankly I don't think this is possible post production but you may want to try Jackspeed. It will really look cool - if it can be done.

The problem is the passenger Airbag

It has to be able to break though the dash when deploying

the cars from the factory with leather dashboards have a special split line in the leather to allow the airbag to work properly

You should go and take a look at the Carrerra. The leather stitching is beautiful. Best of all, you see it as it is and not thru pictures. Maybe you can arrange for a test drive at the same time.

I went for mine a week ago but decided the BMW is more suited for me because of the engine noise intrusion. The BMW sounds so much sweeter. But the interior fittinge and leather cannot beat that of the Porsche.

here's to provide some closure to this thread i started

been around the place looking for after market interior chaps.

been to a listed company - jackspeed - really well known for doing excellent job with leather

but despite several checks they still advised me not to proceed

the issue is with bulges developing on the leather that they would have to apply to the exterior of the current dash pieces - in the tropics the sun will cause expansion of the glue & the leather which will make it look unsightly

have you inquired about getting the actual M5 dash retrofitted? im sure at some point it would be available, the question is if it will fit...

I wouldn't do leather wrap unless one wants to see bubble on the dash someday.
