Interior Trim?

I've noticed that in different E60s that on some of them, on the steering wheel there is a metal trim and on others it's replaced by plastic? What's the deal with this?

Thos are two different steering wheels, one is sports the other one is regular.
the sports has the trim, a slighty smaller diameter and a thicker cross section.

No he means the difference between the 545 steeringwheel with shiny metal on it at the sides and the regular steeringwheel for the 530, 525 and 520.

The sport steering wheel also has metal trim.

i've also seen (titanium) trim on the inner flanges of the normal wheel - sorry no pic!

Wow that first steering wheel is real fat. Is that the standard SMG wheel?

The trim is a standard on 545 steering wheels and I guess on SMG steering wheels too.
