Intensity might change when you adjust the instrument lighting, but I've not checked.

Yup, my car designer brother told me their LED lights...something car manufacturers are doing to set themselves apart. I didn't even notice them until he mentioned it. Their useful and so subtle! For those of you who may not have it, it's kinda nice to have the stick shift subtley lit as well as the door handles and the door pockets...so you're not groping in the dark. (But you just don't notice that they're on. It's also pretty cool how the ceiling light for the rear passenger does not glare back at the driver. A friend sitting in the rear turned it on to put on her make-up and I couldn't even tell that there was a light on from the driver's seat! Luv this car!

My 545 came with the ligting. I didn't know I would have it and didn't ask for it. Is it part of a package/option I ordered and didn't know it.

Mine came with it also, and no option that I had to check. I would assume that it may come with the premium package in the US, hence standard on our 545's

Yep, Range Rover has it too. It's called "ambient lighting." It is wonderful. It allows you to easily see all the functions you need to reach without being distracting while driving. It makes it a lot less necessary to turn on an overhead or map light, because you can even use it for some light to quickly read a phone number or address.
