When I took my first test drive in a 530i, the salesman was going through I-Drive and at some point I thought he showed me a way to adjust the time and brightness of the interior lights (not the overhead, the ambient ones around the floor/doors). I bought a 530i and was recently looking to make these adjustments but can find nothing in the system to do so.

Am I missing something?

These interior lights are possible to adjust with the dim control in the dash (the one that adjusts the speedo and rev light intensity).

Mine doesn't have it on the idrive, only with the control in the dash.

YUP, or a least it is that way on my car........dim function is linked to instrument dimmer though I think it might be affected by idrive display brightness offset setting (cannot check as mine is still in the bodyshop and I'm scooting around in a 120d SE......growing to hate it!!)

Maybe he showed you the Nav brightness display and you really didn't know it (yet).
