My agent is saying that my ins. company won't cover anything that has to do with a "track".

I'm requesting the part of the policy where it states that.

Anybody have any companies that will cover non-timed CCA events held at a track?

Thanks!

Most Co. have dropped that for obvious reasons.

Your CCA should have a Insurance provider that can give you coverage for 1 event or the whole year at decent prices. I know my chapter had that info in its news letter, and I think it was in Roundel a couple months back. The Insurance is for track only.

FWIW, if anyone cares...

So, the agent called the insurance company, the name is like if you were going on a trip, you'd be a "blank"...

She asked the company to point out where in the exclusions it said "no track". They basically couldn't, and when pressed, said they dropped any reference to track exclusions back in the 90s.

There is an exclusion on your personal coverage for bodily harm, if you are involved in timed or race events.

According to the policy though, you could race in Nascar all day long and if you totalled the car there would be no problems.

Interesting.

I had the same question last year when going to the track. I asked my agent if I was covered. And she said no, but I got a copy of the insurance policy and it staed that i was not covered if I was racing on a track. Since driving schools are not racing, I would technically be covered.

All this discussion is interesting. I may go back and look at my policy contract and see what is excluded, as I have always assumed that controlled competition at a track was covered. From a practical standpoint, if your car is damaged, your going to have to fight to get them to pay IMO. I think it would be best to get some level of "racing insurance" nonetheless. I came across a company that some Grand-Am teams use, but I don't remember the name.

Regardless of the poicy, good luck getting any insurance company to pay up if you tell them the damage came from the track.
