Instrument cluster reboots when decelerating

Hi,
I've had a weird problem for a while now. When I'm driving and brake from speeds above 20 mph, the instrument cluster on my 2004 645ci reboots. Everything returns to normal after a few seconds, but the odometer is reset back to zero miles.
This problem only happens when decelerating! It is independent of any temperatures. The only hint I have is when a mechanic told me there was an error message saying something about a canbus error. I've attached the screenshot. Also, he took out the instrument cluster, and re-melted the solder joints, and checked for any breaks but couldn't find anything.
Any ideas out there as to what the problem could be?
Cheers.

If you have not recently had car at dealer, would suggest a dealer software update for whole car, that fixed my similar issue with cluster.
